What Happened To Laura Slade Wiggins' Career After Shameless?
How Has Laura Slade Wiggins' Personal Life Changed Since Shameless?
By the time Shameless ended after eleven seasons, the show had introduced many characters fans cared about. As a result, it could be argued that the show made it hard to keep track of them all. A perfect example of that is many fans had forgotten about two of the show's original main characters.
During the first three seasons of Shameless, Joan Cusack and a then-unknown actor named Laura Slade Wiggins portrayed Sheila and Karen Jackson. Both characters were a huge part of the show at first but they both eventually exited and they were never mentioned during the later seasons.
In the past, Wiggins has talked about what her favorite part of starring in Shameless was. With that in mind, it seems likely that Wiggins was sad to leave the beloved show behind so early on but it felt like there wasn't much left to do with her character.
Whether Wiggins was happy or sad to leave Shameless, life has continued for the talented actor. As it turns out, Wiggins' life has gone through some huge changes since she left Shameless a decade ago in 2013.
What Happened To Laura Slade Wiggins' Career After Shameless?
In an ideal world, landing a role in a hit show would be a great thing for an actor's career. In reality, however, starring in a beloved series actually can be an albatross for an actor sometimes. The reason for that is when an actor is too closely associated with a character, it can be hard for them to find new roles.

As anyone familiar with Shameless will likely know, Laura Slade Wiggins is capable of playing a wide array of roles. After all, her character underwent a massive personality change and beyond that, Karen showed different sides of herself to different people.
Despite the fact Wiggins certainly deserved to enjoy high-profile success after she left Shameless, she hasn't landed a headlining role in a popular show or movie since.
Just because Wiggins' career hasn't reached the same heights it did during the Shameless era since then doesn't mean she hasn't accomplished a lot in the years since.
The most notable role that Wiggins landed since Shameless was in the show The Tomorrow People. In the unfortunately short-lived series, Wiggins portrayed a 17-year-old Tomorrow Person and geneticist named Irene Quinn.

Some of the other roles Wiggins has landed are guest spots in shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Chicago P.D., and Private Practice. According to IMDb, Wiggins also is a part of two upcoming projects titled Amb1tion and Asphalt Jungle.
On top of going from starring in a show to guest spots, it seems like Wiggins' career has slowed down. After all, Wiggins hasn't had any projects released since 2020 as of this writing.
With that in mind, it seems like a really great thing that Wiggins has taken her career down another road to complement the aforementioned upcoming projects.
Since at least 2019, Wiggins has been active on Cameo. A service that allows fans to pay stars to make custom videos for them, all of Wiggins' customers seem to love the videos she made for them since she only has 5-star reviews as of this writing.
For any fan who is interested in having Wiggins record a video for them or someone they know, they can expect to be charged $60 as of this writing. On the other hand, if a business wants Wiggins to record a custom video for them, they will have to pay $422 as of this writing.
Finally, there is one more avenue Wiggin's career continued to go down after she left Shameless. A talented singer and songwriter, Wiggins has performed her music for audiences including the time she played an acoustic set in San Antonio.

As of the time of this writing, Wiggins is set to turn 35 years old in the coming months. Given that Wiggins is in a different stage in her life, it would pretty surprising if her personal life hasn't changed since she left Shameless.
Roughly five years after Wiggins' last episode of Shameless aired, she walked down the aisle with a man named Kyle Weishaar. Just like Wiggins, Weishaar makes a living working on camera in the entertainment business, but he has a very different job.
Since 2009, Weishaar has performed stunts for a wide variety of movies and TV shows. Some of Weishaar's credits include MCU projects like Thor: The Dark World and WandaVison.
Weishaar also performed stunts for other movies like X-Men: First Class, San Andreas, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, Mulan, and The Matrix Resurrections. Weishaar has recently begun to work behind the screen as well now that he is a stunt coordinator, including on the movie Uncharted.
According to US Weekly, Wiggins and Weishaar got married in "a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in Colbert, Georgia". Later in the same article, Us Weekly described Wiggins and Weishaar's fun-sounding 2018 wedding.
"The country-style wedding included cowboy boots for the bride, Southern barbecue from local eatery Tom Little and one heck of a dance party."
A few years after Wiggins and Weishaar got married, they added to their family when they had a daughter in 2021. Unsurprisingly, Wiggins has posted on social media about how much she loves her daughter. On the other hand, Wiggins has also been open on Twitter about how parenting can be a roller coaster ride.
"Pregnancy hormones are wild. Like one moment I’m crying because she won’t sleep and I’m so overwhelmed and don’t know what I’m doing, and then she falls asleep, and I’m crying because she’s so beautiful and I’m overwhelmed by it all that I don’t know what to do."
