Not only are they easy to make, but they also turn out incredibly fluffy, with just the perfect touch of crunchy bits on top. The best part? You get all the flavour of freshly baked scones without having to go through any complicated steps or wait around for hours—it’s almost too good to be true!
Scones in the air fryer
If you’re a fan of scones, you’ll definitely want to try making them in the air fryer! Not only is it a quicker cooking method than the oven-baked scone, but it also results in perfectly golden and crispy. Plus, you’ll still get that classic flaky texture on the inside. The air fryer allows for even heating, so every bite will be just as delicious as the last.
And the best part? You can customize the recipe with your favourite flavours and toppings. From dried fruit to chocolate chips to juicy cherries, the possibilities are endless. Give it a try and enjoy warm and delicious scones in a flash! Croissants also cook well in the air fryer!

How to make plain scones in the air fryer
- Lightly grease a brownie tin that will fit in your air fryer.

- Break the egg into a measuring jug, then make up to 150ml (5 fl oz) with milk. Gradually add to the flour (you may not need it all), and mix to a soft dough.
- Turn out onto a floured surface and roll out to a thickness of ½ inch (1 cm). Cut into rounds with a fluted cutter and place in the tin.
- Turn the air fryer to 200℃ and bake for 6 minutes. You could possibly bake these in 5 minutes, but I wanted a golden finish,
Storage for scones
Let’s face it: Scones don’t stay fresh for very long. Proper storage is key. You want to ensure that your scones stay moist and fluffy, not dry and crumbly.
My favourite way to store them is in an airtight container on the kitchen counter. This way, they get to breathe a little but are still protected from the elements. If you’re planning on keeping them for more than a day, consider stashing them in the fridge. And if you want to take things to the next level, try freezing them. Just make sure to wrap them up tightly before chucking them in the freezer. Happy scone-ing!
