Your brain is much faster than AI and it only consumes 26 wattsThere is something messed up about building gigawatt data centersWe learn by making connections between stuff in our brain.

This creates a deep understanding of what stuff means and how to use it.

Once memorized, you can retrieve a problem and the solution in a milli-second.

With AI, you need to write a prompt, try it out a few times and then modify it for your needs. You won’t remember the solution because you didn’t learn it yourself; you copied and pasted.

 AI does not obsolete learning.

Danny, Would love to see a significant portion of the trillions planned in investment to make one AI model as smart (or more intelligent) as 8 billion people be put to free education. That would raise the floor on human exceptionalism. We would have better AI models, better prompts and more efficient systems. We would include the ideas and opinions being left out from the vast majority who have no role (or seat) around the decision-making table. Then, the rest can go to AGI pursuits and models with a real external worldview (i.e., rooted in science and its foundational / fundamental laws.Don't get me wrong, the Elons, Yanns and Sams of the world provide an invaluable public service but there are opportunity costs. Making something open source (or "open weights") doesn't change this fact.

Being part of the miracle of life.Prof Bruno Lunenfeld is a giant of gynecologyI had the privilege to be a research assistant on his female infertility team in Tel Hashomer Hospital in 1973-1976. I was a physics grad student and since I was handy with programming - I got a job with Bruno writing code and doing statistics.1/20 women taking Pergonal in the program had triplets. 1/5 had twins. One of the impressive things for me was how inclusive and multi-disciplinary a team Lunenfeld built. He had an OB/GYN physician on his team, Dr. Gabi Elsner. One day I was in the clinic and Elsner came in very excited. He said "Mrs so-and-so just had triplets. We thought she was carrying twins.I pulled out one, then two and I saw her stomach was still high - so I pulled out three. Seems number three was hiding behind one and two on the ultrasound".Elsner was using his hands to demonstrate how he pulled out the babies....I remember being very impressedat the time. Here I was a physics grad student

Lean is deadAfter 20 years the time has come to throw out the book. The traditional Lean Startup model, which emphasizes rapid prototyping, validated learning, and iterative development, may not be as effective in today's fast-paced, AI-driven market. Customers now expect polished products that work seamlessly out of the box, and they don't have patience for incomplete solutions that require their input for improvement

You don't have the luxury to be equivocal in your jobThere are no fixed rules about who is good at something; programming, writing, sales, leadership.•Read a lot of code to be a better programmer. •Read a lot of copy to be a better copy-writer. •Practice sales skills every day like MJ practiced layups. •Bootstrap leadership, learn how to lead by doing it. NONE of this matters unless you identify 100 percent with the mission.• A programmer doesn't have the luxury to be equivocal•A copy-writer doesn't have the luxury to be equivocal• A salesperson doesn't have the luxury to be equivocal• A leader doesn't have the luxury to be equivocal-- Thank you to my invisible mentor Dov Frohman, legendary founder and country manager of Intel Israel

Today, I got together with Prof. Bruno Lunenfeld - the giant in female infertility treatment.I was a research assistant on Bruno's team 1973-1976 while I was doing my graduate degree in physics. Some of the cool projects we did:•We developed an EMR system for multi-trauma patient management in 2 weeks during the Yom Kippur war.• An AI for treatment planning for women with amenorrhea based on lab results (it was called an expert system back in the day)• Statistical analysis of pergonal treatment for women in the clinic (over 2000 babies while I was there)Bruno is 97. Clear as a bell. Still writing research papers. 20 years ago, he created a new field of medicine "The Aging Male".Energy and clarity of a man in his 30s.

I was just talking to Joan Rivers about the crisis in clinical trial staffing.Life goes by fast. Enjoy it. Calm down. It's all funny. Next. Everyone gets so upset about the wrong things.PS. Joan told me it's ok to post about something besides CROs being non-transparent, poor quality, non-accountable, low-profitability, poorly integrated professional service organizations. So I go for it.

Do you decide with your eyes?My old grandmother had an expression - “Big eyes”.We would put too much food on our plate and not finish. We are very visualYou see a slim, tall, very beautiful woman wearing an expensive designer jeans outfit from L’Agence on Rodeo Drive. You think - sexy. You see a CEO on LinkedIn with 500K followers and 150,000 employees. You think - smart. This is WYSIATI"WYSIATI," or "What You See Is All There Is," is a concept introduced by psychologist Daniel Kahneman in his book "Thinking, Fast and Slow." It describes a common cognitive bias where people tend to jump to conclusions based on the information that is immediately available to them, without considering what they do not see or what additional information might exist. This bias affects how people gather and interpret information. It can lead to overconfidence in one's judgments, underestimating uncertainty, and a general oversimplification of complex situations.• In decision-making, WYSIATI can cause people to ignore relevant facts simply because they are not immediately visible or top of mind. Kahneman uses this concept to explain various psychological tendencies and errors in human thinking.• In software, WYSIATI may lead you to a conclusion that a bug was a random event without a root cause. You may dismiss the issue as a Heisenbug, shrug your shoulders and close the ticket.A Heisenbug changes its behavior when you attempt to study it or debug it.Just like Ms. Sexy.Is there a solution?Yes there is:• Be curious: Be curious without being creepy. Ask what they do for a living. Even Heisenbugs have root causes, so keep that bug report open and stay skeptical.• Take ownership of yourself and your actions. You don’t need to live your life vicariously with big influencers. And the woman may turn out to be an ace software developer. With a sense of fashion.https://lagence.com/
