10 Of My Tried and True Ways To Treat Myself (and My Mother) - Thistlewood Farm (2024)

I have thought long and hard about this post.

For the last four years, I’ve put together a Mother’s Day Gift Guide with fun, personalized gifts for your mother.

You can see last year’s guide here so you can see what I’m talking about in case you missed it.

But when I went to write this year’s post, I thought of a different way to approach it.

Mother’s Day is all about treating your mom.

Emphasis on the “treating” part.

I love my mother so much and I want to make her feel loved and celebrated and I want to treat her.

I want to make sure she feels special.

So just in case you want to treat your mom (or even yourself) here are 10 of my tried and true ways to treat myself (and my mother).

Let’s GO.

10. Park Hill Sweet Tea Candle

This has been my go-to for YEARS.

I used them at the farmhouse all the time and I kind of forgot about this candle until recently and now I have them all over the house.

Park Hill makes the best candles, but my favorite scent is Sweet Tea.

It comes in this sweet wicker container that you can keep and use to decorate with long after the candle is gone.

You can see the candle here.

I also found it here as well in case it sells out.

9. This phone case that looks vintage

This is my current phone case and it is such a conversation starter.

When you put it on your new phone, it looks like a vintage camera.

It also comes with a cord so it looks like a tourist’s camera from an old movie.

You can see the phone case here.

8. Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia

If you’ve ever used Jo Malone perfume before you are nodding right now.

Jo Malone has some of the best scents ever.

I have several different ones and they are designed to be layered.

But this one? English Pear & Freesia is my current favorite.

You can see it here.

7. Blue and white topiary pillow

I had to include a little blue and white on the list.

It’s one of my favorite ways to treat yourself.

This pillow is hooked and it makes the perfect gift (or a perfect addition to a living room).

You can see the blue and white topiary pillow here.

6. Glotion

Someone messaged me yesterday and told me my skin was glowing.

It’s because of this.

Martha Stewart recommended it last year and I just reordered it again for myself.

I use the medium shade (it looks dark when you go to apply it—but it’s almost translucent with a little glow).

You can see the glotion here.

5. Caldrea linen and room spray

One of my favorite ways to treat myself is with a quick spritz on the bed linens.

Anything from Caldrea is gold.

But this is my favorite scent.

You can see the linen and room spray here.

4. Pearl hoops

I wore these so much, I had to order a second pair.

They are larger hoops, but they make such a statement with the pearls on them.

They look so expensive and they are under $10.

You can see the pearl earrings here.

3. Set of scarves

If you’ve see all the fashion on Palm Royale?

It’s all about the scarves.

You can wear them in your hair, add them to a bag, tie them through a belt loop and so much more. The scarves come in a set of six with some of the prettiest retro patterns.

You can see the scarves here.

2. Sunglasses

I have a pair of aviator sunglasses and these sunglasses.

They go with EVERYTHING.

And they are so flattering because they almost look translucent when you wear them.

You can see these sunglasses here.

1. This weekend bag set

This is my weekend bag.

It came in a set with some make-up and toiletry bags, too.

It has a strap and you can unzip the bottom for extra storage.

You can see the set here.

And one more….Expandable sponges

And one more thing to add to the list. I saved it until the end because it’s not really a gift.

But it is the BEST.

These little sponges expand when you add water and they have a little texture for scrubbing.

I use them every day and they work well for travel.

You can see the expandable sponges here.

I hope you (and your mom) have the BEST Mother’s Day ever.

You are amazing.

You are special.

You are an inspiration to those around you.

Wishing you—yes wonderful, incredible you—all the treats in the world.
